Frequently Asked Questions...

Q:

Will Kids Exchange note when one or the other parent doesn't show for an exchange or visit?

Yes, each parent is asked to sign the in and out, and these arrivals and no-shows are documented for the file.
Q:

Can I send messages with the child to the other parent?

If the information relates to the child, we ask that you run these messages through us, and we can make note the messages were received, and a copy can be made for your file.
Q:

Why do I need this documentation?

In case disputes arise that require mediation.
Q:

Who supervises the visits?

Our supervisors are carefully selected and trained individuals who are not "parenting experts" but are good observers. Their job is to ensure the safety of the child, and set limits when appropriate. They will write a report for the file of each visit.
Q:

My ex-spouse was physically abusive. Can I be sure that I won't see him (or her)?

Yes. Kids Exchange has a no contact policy. The drop-off and pick-up of children happens in a controlled environment where the staff facilitate the separation of parties while the child is accompanied back and forth.
Q:

My ex-spouse has a substance abuse problem. Can I be assured that my child won't be exposed to drug use?

Yes. If the court so orders, we will document that drug tests happen prior to the visits.
Q:

Is there more than one location?

Yes. The north location is 8913 Collinfield Dr., between 183N and N. Lamar. The south location is 3706 S. 1st Street in the Seton building. See our "Contact Us" page for maps to these locations.
Q:

What if I don't live in Travis County?

You can still use our services.
Q:

What if my ex-spouse is in another state and only visits twice a year?

We can work with you to schedule the visit and adjust fees accordingly.
